On August 27th CLYC was proud to host their annual Junior Regatta, along with several sailors from CSC as they were blessed with good weather and steady wind. Through their best efforts the fleet of 15 boats competed in 3 races on the sunny Carlingford Lough. In our Junior fleet the competition was extremely close with the young sailors finishing within seconds of one another, in 3rd place overall was Fiachra McCormick in 2nd place was Maya O’Neil, and in 1st place we had David Fegan, who each sailed excellently in their Lasers. In our Novice fleet, we were met with many of the new and up and coming sailors of the season who all showed remarkable skill and talent. In 2nd place was Emma Gibbons and in 1st place we had Jack Ives.
Following the regatta the club hosted a fantastic barbecue and prize giving kindly sponsored by F10 Marine for its members and the hungry sailors. With belly’s full and smiles on their faces the young sailors were invited to camp out at the club to wrap up this summers courses. Overall the regatta was an enjoyable success with a special thanks to Dara O’Connor for organising the days events.
