Our Dinghies race in two fleets:

• A-Fleet for more experienced sailors.
• B-Fleet is for new sailors and Junior members.

Dinghy racing is divided into a number of Series with both fleets contending for trophies in each:

• Early Season – Wednesday evenings & Sunday afternoons
• Mid Season – Wednesday evenings & Sunday afternoons
• Late Season – Wednesday evenings & Sunday afternoons
• Frostbite Series – Sunday afternoons

This is complimented with a two day Junior Regatta and campout for the B-Fleet and a the CLYC Dinghy Regatta for both A & B Fleets.

Two dedicated races to Warrenpoint are held each year for the Glenny Cup, a much prized trophy in the club.

The Orr Trophy takes place on Tuesday evenings during the summer months and has been hotly contested by Junior sailors for over fifty years.

The CLYC Cruiser racing programme runs from May to October every year with racing on Saturday afternoons.

Cruisers races are scored under two handicap systems of PY and ECHO with trophies for each system. Racing is divided across three seasons:

• Early Season
• Mid Season
• Late Season

The cruiser races are approximately 30 minutes in duration and we hold three races each Saturday. This creates opportunities for everyone to improve their starting procedures and keeps the fleet close together during the race.

A number of individual trophy races are held throughout the year and are ‘open events’ with non-member boats welcomed to participate.

The CLYC Cruiser regatta is held in August across two days and is an Open Event.

CLYC co-hosts the Monley Oyster Pearl sailing regatta with Carlingford Sailing Club and Carlingford Marina each year attracting boats from wide and far.

Our cruiser fleet welcome new sailors on board and are always keen to help develop new skills and permanent crew.
